Blast Mitigation Film: This term is used to describe a film used for blast protection and is most commonly used by the military. Sometimes simply referred to a“blast film”.
Glass Fragmentation Film: This term is mostly used by the military an describes a film to reduce the damage caused by glass fragments:

“MYLAR”®: Even though this is a trademark of the DuPont Corp., the military and some agencies use this term to describe any plastic film that is applied to the window. Usually this term is referring to some gauge of safety and security film. Shatter Resistant Window Film: This is most commonly used by the State Dept. and in many cases, they use only the initials “SRWF”.

Anti-Shatter Film: Sometimes used by the military. Polyester Terepthalate: Certain specifications will identify a film by its chemical name, which can be confusing. This term simply indicates polyester film from which most window film is constructed. PET: Same as above.

Anti-Sharding Film: This term refers to a safety and security film of some specified gauge. Anti-Eavesdropping Film: This refers to a film, which has (Electromagnetic Interference) shielding characteristics. May or may not be safety and security film. EMI Film: Same as above.
